WHAT IS CBD?
CBD is derived from the hemp plant or as it is known in Latin – the speciosa ‘cannabis sativa’. The hemp plant is usually exceptionally low in THC and will not get your high. The flowers of the hemp plant or ‘buds’ are processed to form a pure concentrated version of CBD. It is available in 3 different forms: Isolate, Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum.
This raw product is then added to an array of products like: edibles, balms and salves, skincare, tinctures, drinks, vapes and many more.
CBD has been shown to be effective against an array of conditions and has been clinical proven to combat pain and inflammation.
HOW DOES CBD WORK?
Every human has an Endocannabinoid System. This system is broken up into 3 core components: Endocannabinoids, Receptors (CB1 & CB2) and enzymes.
Endocannabinoids can also be called endogenous cannabinoids and are molecules usually made by your body. They are very similar to the molecules derived from CBD hence your body will accept the endocannabinoids derived from CBD to fuel the CB1 & CB2 receptors.
The Endocannabinoid System is responsible for regulating many of the bodies essential functions like:
- appetite and digestion
- metabolism
- immune system responses
- mood
- learning and memory
- motor control
- sleep
- cardiovascular system function
- muscle formation
- bone remodeling and growth
- liver function
- reproductive system function
- skin and nerve function
So, when the body is not making enough of its own endogenous cannabinoids, CBD can supply essential endocannabinoids to bind with the CB1 and CB2 receptors bringing the body back into balance.
Many experts believe that the primary function of the ECS is to bring the body into homeostasis.
WHICH CBD PRODUCT IS THE BEST?
This really depends on your goals and the reason you are taking CBD.
Best means different things to different people. Best can mean strongest or highest bioavailability. Best can also mean easiest to use.
When helping our customers decide on the best product, we always ask about the issue they are treating. If it is localized pain often a topical salve or a roll on will be perfect for their needs.
With so many products to choose from it can be overwhelming for customers to choose. It is usually advisable to start with a CBD dosage of 20mg – 50mg per day and to maintain this dosage for 3-5 days to see if this amount is helping with the issue. After this time, the dosage can be increased, or a different method can be tried.
Bioavailability is key if taking CBD orally. Tinctures have one of the highest bio availabilities as they are taken sublingually and there are many receptors under the tongue which allow for fast absorption into the bloodstream.
Many of our customers prefer to consume their CBD in the form of a gummy as they are delicious and enjoyable. We have CBD gummies available in both Full Spectrum (containing 0.3% THC) and Broad Spectrum (THC Free) and we have a wide array of flavors and milligrams of CBD per gummy.

I TRIED CBD AND IT DIDN’T WORK, WHY?
We often hear this from customers coming into our store for the first time after using other products. The main reason, we have discovered, is that the products they have previously used was very low in CBD.
Its not uncommon for customers to come in with a topical that only contains 50 or 100mg that they have bought from another company. This just isn’t enough to really be effective. Our 4oz Salve contains 1,000mg and it is also available in 3,000mg, 5,000mg and 10,000mg.
We have found this with tinctures too. Given that many products on the market only contain 200mg – 500mg per 1oz bottle this would only provide a few milligrams of CBD per dose.
Most research studies recommend 20-50mg of CBD per dose. Our extra strength 10,000mg CBD contains 10mg per drop. ¼ of a dropper contains 80+mg which is a good dosage for combatting severe pain and inflammation.
Always, read the label when purchasing a CBD product. Many of the products out there are mislabeled and do not contain the correct dosage of CBD.
