CBD (Cannadidiol) has great health benefits. It is a great product to use as a preventative supplement instead of waiting for something to go wrong and then trying to treat the ailment.
So what is CBD and how does it work?
We have an Endocannabinoid System (ECS). Our ECS is responsible for regulating a number of systems within the body. These are:
- Sleep
- Hormones
- Appetite
- Temperature Control
- Pain Control
- Inflammatory Response
- Immune Response
- Learning and Memory
Our body typically makes endocannabinoid to supply the ECS’s receptors to keep everything working smoothly.
Exercise and good sleep are both factors that have been proven to increase the ciculation of these endocannabinoids in clinical trials.
Pain and inflammation both lead to a decrease in endocannabinoids circulting in the body which creates a Catch-22. If your body requires that thse Endocannabinoids are circulating to supply the ECS but this production is suppressed then your body cannot effectively regulate pain and inflammation.
Factors such as PTSD, depression and anxiety may also decrease endocannabinoids. (1)
Fortunately, the cannabinoids in CBD are so silimilar to the ones that the body makes that the body’s CB1 & CB2 receptors will automatically accept these canninoids in place of the ones the body should be making.
For many people this results in better sleep, less anxiety, less preceived pain, relief from inflammation and general wellbeing.
In fact, even if you are generally healthy and well your production of endocannabinoids can be decreases by factors like: stress, poor dietary choices, lack of quality sleep, etc.
Taking a CBD tincture or CBD edible can help ensure your body is receiving cannabinoids to keep all of your body’s systems and function running efficiently.
CBD can be viewed as a preventative alternative in order to stay healthy and strong. It is not a replacement for a good diet, quality sleep and an active lifestyle, but it can step in to prevent issues from becoming more apparent as we age.
