How CBD Isolate is Made

There are two main processes used to produce CBD isolate. The first is a supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2) method and the 2nd is an ethanol-based extractions. When the CBD extraction process takes place many components of the hemp plant are removed, including cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, as well as fats, lipids, and other compounds. Then the CBD compound needs to be separated from the rest of the extraction, which is done through washing and purification.

The process begins with the initial wash, which is usually done with a mixture compounds. Once these chemical solvents are combined, the impurities are removed. These chemicals then need to be removed. A machine process uses heat and pressure to carefully separate solvents from compounds.

From here, the remaining compounds are refined even further through preparative chromatography which is a separation process that separates cannabinoids by putting them through various processes at different speeds. It then needs to be cleaned again before the final product, CBD Isolate, is left.
